James was born and raised in Houston, Texas, the second son of Keith and Lane Fletcher. His father is regarded as one of the top personal injury attorneys in Houston. James briefly left his home town to attend Baylor University, where he graduated with a degree in Psychology. Upon his return to Houston, James was hired by Baylor College of Medicine to do clinical research in collaboration with the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. This interest in science is still with him – he has attended specialized courses in the science of Gas Chromatography at the prestigious Axion Labs in Chicago, Illinois. James now uses this specialized training and experience to show juries the flaws in the science the State uses against citizens accused of crimes.
James attended South Texas College of Law, where he earned awards for having the top grade in his class in Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. James also received a speaking award as one of the top oralists at the Spurgeon Bell Moot Court Competition at South Texas. After passing the bar exam, James was hired by one of the top DWI defense firms in Houston, eventually working his way up to become the Senior Associate attorney. After more than three years at the firm, James founded his own firm, the James R. Fletcher Law Firm.
James is in the unique position to be able to provide effective legal representation for criminal cases, especially DWI, at affordable rates. He knows exactly how to handle a DWI case from arrest to verdict, and has worked hard to establish a reputation as a tough, adamant, and creative trial attorney who fights for his clients throughout the process.
